SRVHS TRACK & FIELD--TEAM RULES

 

Attendance

1.  Athletes are expected to be suited up and at the track bleachers by 3:30, Monday-Friday. (Saturday practices are optional, but recommended for varsity level athletes.  Talk to event coaches for practice times).

2.  Roll will be taken every day by the coaches or captains.  Athletes must check in each day with their event coach.  Failure to check in will count as a missed day of practice.

3.  Tardiness counts as an absence.  Plan ahead and be on time.

4.  A practice is defined as the period of time between 3:30 and when the full team workout is complete.  Athletes who leave early without prior approval will have a missed practice counted against them.

5.  If a practice must be missed (due to appointments or illness), notify a coach as soon as possible.  Workout and meet schedules are known ahead of time.  Plan any appointments around this schedule.

     PLAN AHEAD, PRIORITIZE, AND COMMIT!!!

6.  5 total absences will result in an athlete not being eligible for a varsity letter.

 

Meets

1.  For all meets, athletes are required to take the team bus (or parent designated car) to the meet.  Athletes are prohibited from driving themselves.  This is a team, school, and district policy that will be followed.  Failure to follow this rule will result in the athlete missing a meet.

2.  All athletes will arrive at meets dressed in proper team uniforms.  Failure to do this will result in the athlete not competing for the day.

3.  For invitationals, athletes are able to leave with a parent once their events are completed and they have checked out with a coach.  Failure to check out with a coach will result in dismissal from the team.

4.  Failure to compete in all assigned events for any meet will results in suspension from the team.

5.  To be considered for an “A” relay team at any level, the athlete must have consistent daily attendance at practice.

Attendance at Meets

  Dual Meets

1.      Athletes are required to attend all dual meets.  Failure to attend a dual meet will result in dismissal from the team.

2.      Athletes are required to stay at the meet until the conclusion when they are dismissed by a coach.  Leaving early will result in dismissal from the team.

  Invitationals

       1.  Athletes are required to sign up with event coaches for all invitationals ahead of time.  Event coaches will notify athletes of the sign-up period.  Plan ahead and know what invitationals you are able to attend.

 

General

1.  Athletes must be academically eligible!  (2.0 or above)  You are a student athlete and student comes first.  If you are in academic trouble, talk to a coach.

2.  Anyone using alcohol, drugs, or tobacco is not interested in athletics and will be dismissed from the team.

3.  Sportsmanship will be displayed at all times.  Failure to comply with any team rule will result in consequences (missing a meet or dismissal from the team).

 

 

Track is a team sport.  Be prepared to be part of the team at all times.  We look forward to a highly successful 2007 season.  Be ready to be part of the season.
