2009 Theme: Commitment

Attendance

1.     Practice

a.      The 2009 track and field season begins February 2, 2009 at 3:30 pm.  Practice is from 3:30-5:30 pm, every day after school.  Every practice will begin with a short team meeting in the south D zone of the track.

b.     Attendance will be taken by each event coach.   Tardiness is NOT acceptable.

c.     Each athlete is responsible for checking in with their event coach.  Failure to do so will result in a tardy and/or unexcused absence.

d.     Practice is mandatory. Absence from practice is NOT acceptable.  Three unexcused absences, regardless of reason, result in automatic dismissal from the team.  (An outside sport is NOT an excuse to miss practice)

e.      Three tardies to practice is equivalent to one absence.

f.       If an athlete is unable to attend practice because of illness or other medical situation, the event coach must be notified before practice.  Athletes should return to practice as soon as possible, with a parent or doctor’s note. Failure to notify a coach will result in an unexcused absence.

g.     Injured athletes may still be able to finish portions of a workout, or complete a modified version of the workout.  They are expected to attend practice and speak to their event coach to determine what can be done by the athlete in practice.

h.     Athletes are expected to complete all portions of the prescribed workout.  Leaving early is equivalent to being absent.

i.        If an athlete must miss practice, they must inform a head coach or their event coach in person or email 24 hours in advance.

j.        Make track a priority!  If it is not, good luck in whatever you choose to pursue.

2.     Meets

a.      Dual meets

                                                              i.      All dual meets are required for all members of the team.

ii.      Team members are expected to travel to meets with the TEAM, on the bus.

iii.      Athletes may NOT drive themselves to dual meets.  Athletes found to have driven themselves will be removed from competition, and assessed an absence.

iv.      At the conclusion of each dual meet, roll will be taken.

                                                           v.      Team members are expected to remain at meets to cheer on teammates until the conclusion of the meet. Athletes that leave early will be given an absence.

vi.      Parents may sign their son/daughter out ONLY at the conclusion of the meet.

b.     Invitationals

                                                              i.      The track team participates in many weekend invitationals.  Athletes will be strongly encouraged to participate in these.
