Scrimmage Rain or Shine.
Tomorrow's scrimmage will begin promptly at 9 am, rain or shine. Field events may need to be cancelled due to being too slick to be safe. We could still use volunteers to help out so please consider helping in any way possible.

Great Start At Time Trials!
The San Ramon Valley Track and Field season got off to a great start with some great early season times in the time trials this past Saturday. Look for the official results on the website early next week. If you have any photos of the event, please send them to Coach Stevens at tstevens@srvhs.org, and he will get them up on the website.

Uniforms!
Freshman and newcomers to the track team will need to purchase a uniform for the season. The standard uniform is $35. The men's speed suit is $60, and the women's speed suit is $55. Please make check's payable to SRVHS Track and Field. Also, if you would like to receive the team warmups, the contribution of $300 must be turned into Coach Stevens or Hunter. You may combine the amount of the uniform and the contribution to make one check.

President's Day Weekend!
While we all enjoy the time off from school and work, please be aware that individual event coaches will be conducting practices on Saturday and Monday of the long weekend. Please check with your event coach to see if you will be expected to be at practice.

First Day Of Practice!
The first day of practice is Monday, February 8th. Athletes must have all clearance paperwork in before they are allowed to practice. Clearance forms are turned into the bookkeeper's office, and all transportation forms and checks should be turned in to Coach Stevens or Coach Hunter. We will meet at the track at 3:30 and have a short team meeting. We will then begin practice after the meeting.

Forward Motion Spike Weekend!
Forward Motion will offer 10% off to any SRVHS track and field athlete who comes in the weekend of February 19-21. This is a great time to get spikes. The employees are great at asking the right questions and putting your athlete in the best product for their events.

Parent Meeting!
There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday, January 27th at 7 pm in the San Ramon Valley High School cafeteria. Parents may bring all of their athletes clearance paperwork to the meeting to turn it in. The bookkeeper will process all paperwork that night so your athletes will be eligible day one.

Pre-Season Track Meeting!
On Wednesday, December 16, 2009, there is a mandatory preseason track and field informational meeting in room B4 for anyone interested in participating in track and field this season. Topics to be discussed include completing the clearance forms, preseason workouts, and uniforms. Please plan on attending the meeting at lunch next Wednesday.

Sign Up For Athletic Boosters!
Parents! A great way to contribute to the track and field team is by participating in the athletic boosters at San Ramon Valley. Every year the boosters give the track and field teams $1000 to help pay for various expenses. Beginning this year, instead of that $1000, they are giving each program $50 for each team member whose parent(s)is an athletic booster. This would help offset many of the expenses of the team and would help to lower your out of pocket costs for the track and field season. For a team as large as the track and field team, 100% participation would mean nearly $8000. The coaches strongly encourage you to sign up for athletic boosters as a way of supporting your son or daughter directly.

EBAL Championships!
A hot day at Granada led to some fast times on the track, and several individual champions for the Wolves. San Ramon had six individual EBAL Champions, including Sean Colaco in the 1600, Kevin Griffith in the 800, Laura Charbonneau in the 300 hurdles, Amanda Nguyen in the long jump, Chris Brooks in the long jump, and Erica Brown in the discus. We also had several Frosh/Soph champions, and the FS boys team was the overall league champion for the fifth year in a row. We also had many personal bests and top ten marks on Saturday. Overall we qualified 23 individuals to move on to this weekend's NCS Tri-Valley meet, once again being held at Granada. It looks like the Wolves will make a long run into the post season.

Varsity Trials
It was a solid day for the Wolves track and field team with all major competitors moving on to the finals on Saturday. Please click on the link below for the Saturday program. Field events start at 10 am and the running events begin with the 4x100 finals starting at 11 am. Scroll down to view the time schedule.

League Meet Entries

EBAL Championships!
This week is the league championships at Granada High School. We are in charge of the shot put event this year. We are looking for volunteers to help coaches run the event. Any parents can help, and of course you will be able to leave to watch your son or daughter compete in another event. Please email Coach Stevens directly at tstevens@srvhs.org. We need volunteers for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

MV Week!
This week brings rekindles the rivalry between San Ramon and Monte Vista. Both the varsity boys and varsity girls meets look to be close affairs, with a winning record on the line for the boys team and second place in the dual meet season on the line for the girls team. Finishing second is very important heading in to the league meet at Granada the next week. Both meets could come down to the very end. We have a pasta feed this Wednesday in the school cafeteria. Food will be served at 5 pm.

Phillips-McCain All Around Success!
The Phillips-McCain Invitational was a great meet for San Ramon this weekend. Both the FS boys and Varsity boys were overall meet champions. The depth of the Wolves was evident with the multiple relay first place awards we won. Overall, the boys won 7 relay races, with 6 of those being first place overall. The varsity boys 4x400 "B" team won their heat but were ineligible for awards. We also had a new entry into the all time top 10 boards. Sarah Wong ran 11:41.16 in the VG 3200 to finish second overall and place #8 all time in San Ramon history. She now is on two top ten boards. Great job Sarah! Overall the girls were not as successful as the boys, but they were missing some key personnel this weekend. Look for them to bounce back with a strong showing against Foothill this week. Full results are posted on the results page.

Cal High Dual Mixed Results!
The dual meet was a split decision with the boys team winning and the girls team losing. There were still some impressive marks on the track and in the field. Blaire Nasstrom jumped 5'2" to move up to a tie for #5 in San Ramon history. Erica Brown threw 101'10" in the discus to move up to a solid #9 all time in San Ramon History. Congratulation to both on these excellent marks. There were some impressive times on the track as well. Since the times were all hand times, it is difficult to determine if any of them are top 10 times. Despite this, the Wolves are moving in the right direction as the season progresses. Look to see some great improvement this weekend at Phillips McCain. Click on the link below for the time schedule.
Phillips-McCain Schedule

FS Championships Added to Schedule!
The Bay Area FS Championships has been added to the schedule for May 2nd. This is a FS only meet. Most freshman and sophomores will compete in the meet. A few who are running as varsity athletes will travel to Sacramento to compete in the Sacramento Meet of Champions. Athletes will be notified next week which meet they will be competing in.

CYO Meet Saturday!
This Saturday is the second CYO meet we will host at SRVHS. Athletes, this is a great opportunity to help out and make some money for the track program. Donate one hour of your time to sell food at the snack shack. Its fun and the money will be used to benefit you in the future.

Great Day at Stanford!
The Wolves traveled to Stanford University this weekend and had some impressive races. The girls 4x100 relay team set a season best time of 50.39, but those included some less than perfect handoffs so look for them to go sub 50 seconds very soon in the future. Sarah Wong ran 5:19.99 for the mile, which is a longer distance than the 1600 normally run in high school. When converted, that time will put Sarah in the top 10 in school history. The girls 4x400 ran a season best 4:07.76. The excitement of the day came in the last race when the boys 4x400 won with a top 10 time of 3:23.84. The team of Joe Grabenstein, Kevin Griffith, Dan Davis, and Ryan Hammill held off a hard charging Castro Valley team to win by .01 seconds. It was a thrilling race and a precursor of many other great things ahead for this team.

Mixed Results Against Amador!
It was an up and down day for the Wolves track and field team against Amador on Thursday. The girls were victorious with a 76-60 victory, while the boys lost a close one 72-64. The boys meet came down to the final events, with the Wolves' fate not secured until the 3200. There were still some impressive marks on the day with many personal bests accomplished. Erica Brown earned a top 10 board placement with her shot put of 31-09. This ties her for #10 all time in SR history. Kevin Griffith won the 1600 despite not knowing he was running it until about 10 minutes before. He then came back to win the 800 in sub two minute time. What an impressive double! Ryan Hammill matched Kevin's effort with a double in the 400 and 800. He finished a close third in the 400 and then accelerated to a second place finish in the 800 behind Kevin. Both athletes put in great days for the Wolves. Parker Itow set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet. This was a huge increase for Parker and he looks to improve upon that mark as the year goes on. Some of the varsity runners will be heading to Stanford this weekend and are looking for some impressive times in front of the college athletes. Good luck to all!

San Ramon Dominates Dan Gabor!
Over the two days of the Dan Gabor Sprint and Distance Festival, San Ramon athletes could be found at the top of the overall performance lists in many events. Sean Colaco started it with an outstanding time of 4:19.23 in the 1600. This time makes Sean one of the state leaders in the event, and brings our first addition to the all time top 10 list for the year. Sean is now ranked third in the 1600 and is not too far from the top overall spot. Good luck the rest of the year! Kevin Griffith followed his impressive time in the 1600 with a slightly over two minutes flat time in the 800 to win overall. Not to be outdone by her brother, Sarah Griffith finished first overall in the girls 400 with a time of 61.37 seconds. Bailey Weaver, Laura Charbonneau, and Sarah Wong took places two, three, and five respectively in the event. In the boys 400, Joe Grabenstein finished first over all with a time of 51.77. Dan Davis running the 400 begrudgingly finished second in a time of 52.91 to finish second. Jake Pulos running his first 400 ever finished 4th overall with a time of 52.94. Laura Charbonneau finished second in the 300 hurdles with an impressive time of 47.14. Nico Guilford, runnnig under the alias of Casey LaHonta, won the boys 200 with an impressive time of 22.58. Very good time for this early in the season. Finally, the girls 4x400 relay team of Sarah Wong, Laura Charbonneau,Bailey Weaver, and Sarah Griffith won with an impressive time of 4:08.99

Wolves Excite EBI Crowd!
A beautiful day at Monte Vista High School saw the first competitive meet for the Wolves. The day began with the VB DMR blowing away the field to win by almost 15 seconds. It ended with the VB 4x400 relay team in a fast and tight race with Amador Valley and Pittsburg. A controversial ending resulted in the Wolves finishing second by .007 seconds over Amador Valley. Look for this rivalry to continue throught the season. In between these two exciting races saw the VG 4x100 relay win with an outstanding early season time. Jake Pulos set the meet record in the FS 100 meter dash. The FSB 4x400 meter relay shattered the meet record set last year. It looks to be a great beginning to another outstanding season.
