We Brought Home Some Hardware!
The 2010 track and field came to a successful close Saturday night in Clovis as the Wolves brought home two medals. Friday's preliminary rounds saw Sarah Griffith improve upon her school record 400 time, running 55.97 seconds. While she did not qualify for the finals, she is poised to have a great senior season in 2011. Kevin Griffith ran 1:51.89 in the prelims to qualify third, then followed it up with a time of 1:51.31 to finish 5th in the state and become San Ramon's first podium finisher since 2004. The men's 4x400 team of Dan Davis, Griffith, Ian Padilla Jong, and Garrett Storms qualified 8th for the finals, and proceeded to run 3:16.88 in the finals to finish 6th in the state. They finished off what has been a very memorable and magical season. Looking back upon the season, it seems like just yesterday we started. The athletes on the team endured massive amounts of rain this year, fought through difficult injuries, and overcame their own personal struggles to have the best track and field season in San Ramon history. This team will never be forgotten, and their successors have a difficult task to follow. But just as in years past, they will. I want to congratulate and say thank you to our seniors. We will always remember you, but we must now let you go and allow you to move on to greater things in your life. Good luck!

Jane Humphrey Sets Record!
I failed to mention in my post about the weekend that Jane Humphrey set the school record in the girl's pole vault with a mark of 10'9". Though she did not qualify for the state meet, she finished her sophomore season with her personal best which will be a great push for next year. Congrats Jane!

Amazing Weekend in Berkeley!
The record breaking season for the San Ramon Valley track and field team continued this past weekend at the NCS Meet of Champions. The Wolves took home lots of hardware once again, and the boys team finished a close second overall to bring home another penant for the school. Saturday's finals started slowly, with Chris Brooks jumping a personal best of 22'1.25" in the long jump to just miss out going to state. The boys 4x100 relay of Dan Davis, Chris Brooks, Jason Roudnev, and Jake Pulos just missed out on a trip to state with a 5th place finish in a time of 42.84. Despite not making it to state, this 4x100 relay team did make the top ten board with their time. This is especially rewarding because Jason Roudnev was a last minute substitution because of injury. Sarah Griffith started to turn the Wolves' fortunes around with a 3rd place finish in the 400 meters, becoming the first wolf to qualify for Clovis. Dan Davis followed shortly there after with a 3rd place finish in the boys 400, running a time of 48.60 seconds. This is the second fastest time in school history, and Dan is only the second person to ever break 49 seconds in the 400. Kevin Griffith brought San Ramon its first NCS winner in many years, winning the 800 in convincing fashion with a time of 1:52.15. This puts him in nice position for Clovis. The surprise of the day was in the shot put. Ben Teichman was in second place going into the final round of throws, but ended up finishing fourth overall to seal his ticket to Clovis. His throw of 53'5" ranks him #4 all time in school history. Colin Barber and Niko Millias were in the final group in the pole vault. Both had cleared 14', but unfortunately Niko was the first man out. Colin cleared 14'6" to finish fourth overall and punch his ticket to state. Niko just missed out, finishing sixth. The final race of the day brought huge excitement to the crowd. San Ramon was involved in a three team race with Deer Valley and Saint Mary's in the 4x400 relay. Each of the three teams took their opportunity to lead the race, but Garrett Storms was able to hold off the fast charging anchors from Deer Valley and Saint Mary's to win the relay in a time of 3:16.04. Deer Valley and Saint Mary's were less than .4 seconds behind the Wolves. The time is the seventh fastest time in the state this year, and gives the team a great shot of making the state final next week. Congrats to all of our winners and state meet qualifiers. The dream season is not over yet!

Boys Win Tri-Valley!
The boys team continued its outstanding season with a victory in the Tri-Valley area meet at Granada. This is the first Tri-Valley championship in school history. The boys were led by some amazing performances on the track and in the field. The day started off with the boys 4x100 relay breaking the school record with a time of 42.38. Parker Deuel followed with a win the 1600, followed close behind by Simon Graves. Dan Davis won the 400, and Ian Jong came in second, just .03 behind. Kevin Griffith set a meet record in teh 800 with a time of 1:53.80, over a full second faster than the previous record. The day was capped by the 4x400 relay team finishing first overall. Not an outstanding time for them, but with the windy conditions and an alternate team member, it was still an outstanding win. On the girls side, the girls 4x100 relay team, Jane Humphrey, and Sarah Griffith have all qualified for next week. These and many other team members now travel to Berkeley for this weekend's Meet of Champions. This is the last step before the state meet in Clovis. We hope to have many supporters in Berkeley this weekend to cheer the team on to state.

Banquet May 27th!
The team banquet and awards night is Thursday May 27th at 6 pm in the Commons on campus. All members of the team and their families are invited to join us in celebration of this season's success. Kinder's is catering the event, and varsity letters, all league, and individual team awards will be awarded. Athletes are free, all additional family members are $14 each. We hope to see many of you there!

Boys Roll to League Championship!
It was yet another wonderful day for the boys track and field team at the EBAL Championships this past weekend. Led by a group of talented seniors, the Wolves scored 150 points to easily beat out De La Salle for the league meet and overall league championships. The day started off very well with the boys 4x100 team of Dan Davis, Chris Brooks, David Manuel, and Jake Pulos upsetting De La Salle in the race with a season best time of 42.61. Kevin Griffith followed that race up with a school record in the 1600, running it in a time of 4:15.53, and Parker Deuel was second. The Wolves held 4 of the top 6 spots in the 1600. Dan Davis led a 1-2-3 finish in the 400 with a personal best time of 49.05. He was followed by Garrett Storms with a time of 49.48, and Ian Padilla Jong was third in a time of 49.58. Great times! Kevin Griffith came back to win the 800 a little later, while Colin Barber won the pole vault with a winning height of 14-6. To close out the meet, the boys 4x400 relay won again; not with a season best but respectable given the heat and number of events run by the members. On the girls side, the girls were a surprising second place behind Cal High. The lady Wolves were led by Sarah Griffith's two wins in the 400 and 200. Jane Humphrey made a personal best PV mark of 10-6, the same as the winner. Unfortunately Jane lost in a jump off. Lauren Connelly qualified for NCS in the 1600 and 800, while Kelly Nordine qualified in the 800. Both girls relay teams advance to next week with seasonal best times. All in all, the weekend was a great success, and those advancing on to NCS will look to improve their times and marks as we take the "Road to State."

EBAL Championships!
This week brings the EBAL Championships at Cal High in San Ramon. Frosh/soph trial will be held on Wednesday at 4pm. The top 8 from trials on the track will qualify for Saturday's finals. Field events will have trials and finals all on Wednesday. Thursday is varsity trials day, with the top 8 on the track qualifying for Saturday's finals, and the top 9 in field events qualifying for Saturday's finals. All relay finals are Saturday; there are no trials. Buses will provide transportation to Cal High, but will not be staying to provide transportation home. Parents should plan on picking up their own athletes at the conclusion of their events. Parents should bring their athletes to the meet on Saturday. Saturday's field events begin at 10 am, while running events begin at 11 am. Parents should park their cars in the student parking lot which is towards the South end of the school.

Mixed Day for Wolves!
Thursday's dual meet vs. Cal High was a mixed day for the track team. The boys again were dominant, winning 98-38 over Cal. There were some outstanding times and marks on the track, including some top ten all time marks. Ben Teichman ended a 23 year drought by throwing 52'2" in the shot put, to place him number 7 all time in San Ramon history. Parker Deuel added the 800 top ten board to his list of accomplishments this year, running a time of 1:57.02. That places him #9 all time. Dan Davis tied Coach Stevens for 9th all time in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.34. Colin Barber moved into a tie for 2nd all time in the pole vault with a vault of 14'6". Unfortunately, the girls were not victorious, falling to the Grizzlies 82-54. There were however some great marks for the girls as well. Sarah Griffith improved her 200 time to 25.70. Liz Hebel improved upon her top ten 3200 time running 11:31.73. So while we were not victorious, the girls were very competitive and still have a great chance to finish second on the season. This weekend many of our young Wolves will be competing at the Phillips-McCain Invite at Campolindo High School. Events begin at noon. Athletes should check with their coaches for times and events.

Another Double Victory!
The Wolves track and field team was again victorious on the boys and girls sides Thursday. The boys won 96-40, while the girls won 88-48. The highlight of the meet was Sarah Griffith making the top ten board in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Her times of 12.63 and 25.87 to put her number eight and number seven respectively. Great job Sarah! This weekend many athletes will head to Clovis to compete in the West Coast Relays.

Both teams 2-0!
The Wolves' track and field teams improved to 2-0 on the season with victories over Livermore. The boys cruised to a 107-28 victory, while the girls squeeked out a 71-64 victory. The highlights of the meet were in the field events, where Jane Humphrey vaulted 10 feet to move into a tie for third all time in school history. Nora Consani also made the top ten all time with a vault of 9 feet. Niko Millias also joined his brother in the top ten by vaulting 13 feet 6 inches to join a log jam at number six all time. Other highlights include Jack Williams winning both the 110 and 300 hurdle races. Ben Teichman threw 48 feet 4 inches to win the shot put. All in all it was a great day for San Ramon Valley track and field. This weekend a select number of athletes will be competing at Stanford in the Stanford Invitational. Next week is an important dual meet against Amador Valley. Its the last meet before Spring Break and we want to keep the momentum going into break.

Boys and Girls Win!
It was a great day to open the EBAL season as both boys and girls were victorious. The girls had a convincing 98-38 victory over Carondelet, while the boys won 78-58. Some notable marks were Jack Williams top ten all time mark of 15.33 in the 110 high hurdles. Parker Deuel had two vicotries in the 1600 and 3200 meter races. On the girls side, Erica Brown won the shot put and discus events, while Jane Humphrey won the Pole Vault and Long Jump events. It was a great day to be out at the track. This weekend most of the team is off, but a few will be running at the Martinez Relays and at the Dublin Distance Fiesta. Great job this week!

Fast Weekend at Amador!
The San Ramon Valley track and field team had a great weekend on the track at Amador Valley High School. It started on Friday night with the distance festival, with Parker Deuel improving on his Top Ten time in the 3200 meters by running a 9:31.01 to put himself firmly on the board at number 7. Liz Hebel also made the board at number 10 in the 3200 by running a time of 11:44.19. Some great early season times for two sophomores. On Saturday, San Ramon saw some great performances in the sprints. The varsity boys 4x100 relay team set a new meet record and joined the school top ten board with a time of 43.20 seconds. Dan Davis then set the meet record in the boys 400 meter dash with a sub 50 second time of 49.95. To be running that fast this early in the season is quite amazing. There were some other fantastic times in the 400 races. The varsity boys 4x400 finished the day with a time of 3:24.75, just behind Saint Mary's and into the top 10 in the state of California for the year so far. We look for a great season ahead for this team.

East Bay Invite Successful!
This past weekend's EBI was a rounding success. The varsity boy's team was the meet champion, while our girl's team finished a lousy two points behind Cal High. Overall it was a very successful weekend on and off the track. Results for the entire meet are posted online. Click on the results tab to the right to find out all results. Thank you to all volunteers for your great work. The meet went very smoothly and even finished ahead of schedule.

Email Updates
Parents, the coaches have received many questions about why they haven't received email updates. There are a couple possible reasons for this. One is that your spam and junk mail filters are not allowing them through. When an update is sent out, I receive many "Undeliverable" return messages. Please check your filters to see if they are in there. The second reason is that the incorrect email is in the data base or it hasn't been entered at all. If you want to receive emails, you must make sure the correct email address is in the database.
